NO STRINGS ATTACHED
The inspiration for the latest album by La Petite Écurie, No Strings Attached, originates from the preface of Johann Christian Schieferdecker’s thirteen Musikalische Concerte, in which he expressed that: “They were composed with such care that, in the absence of the necessary people, they could also be performed with only 4 voices, namely 3 Hautbois and 1 Bassoon”.
Reviews
Immer stilsicher, bisweilen lyrisch, manchmal schwungvoll-musikantisch.

It reminds us that during the Baroque period—as you probably know—ornamentation and improvisation were common practices for all musicians. (…) For example, the ability to improvise on timpani. And that’s exactly what happens in this overture by Reinhard Keiser. I’d like to draw your attention to the timpani part that you’ll hear in this overture.

It goes without saying that La Petite Écurie’s players are technically and stylistically highly skilled instrumentalists, who are very well matched and achieve a rounded, even brilliant sound, conveying, in general, a welcome sense of optimism.

All around, I found this album a breath (or more) of fresh air. Ha! The two ladies leading on this album Miriam Jorde Hompanera, Valerie Colen, with Marc Bonastre Riu, are fantastic baroque oboists. Wonderful concept, excellent execution, and all packaged with great sound. Really, no strings attached. Just great music.

About our debut album:
On its debut album, La Petite Écurie presents a fascinating collection of English music by the most respected composers from around 1700: Thomas Morgan, Godfrey Finger, James Paisible and Henry Purcell.
Reviews
The playing of La Petite Écurie is excellent, and does full justice to the character of the music. The result is a highly entertaining disc to which the lover of wind music will regularly return.
MUSICWEB INTERNATIONAL
Martine D. Mergeay, LA LIBRE BELGIQUE
